Our clinical data solutions improve healthcare outcomes by making accurate information available to clinicians and patients when they need it. Our analytical solutions improve administrative decisions by making accurate information available to managers and leaders. All of our solutions are standards-based, interoperable, and support both clinical and claims data.

Clinical Data Solutions for HIEs

MedicaSoft’s clinical data solutions consist of our high-performance clinical data infrastructure, clinical services, clinical applications, and external interfaces.

Clinical Data Infrastructure

MedicaSoft’s clinical data infrastructure ensures that clinical and claims data is available, accessible, and accurate. Our clinical data infrastructure is cloud-based and built with the same scalable, high-performance technology components as those used in global Internet platforms like eBay and LinkedIn. Our clinical data infrastructure consists of an Ingest Engine and a FHIR Data Repository, and forms the core of the high-performance NXT Platform. Our clinical data infrastructure also includes a FHIR API for easy integration with clinical services, applications, and interfaces.

Clinical Services

Clinical services use MedicaSoft’s clinical data infrastructure to deliver reliable value for HIEs and healthcare providers. We offer Direct Secure Messaging, Event Notification, and Results Delivery services.

Clinical Applications

MedicaSoft offers a Provider Portal that gives healthcare providers access to patient data beyond that found in their local EHR, and a Comprehensive Personal Health Record that gives patients access to their personal healthcare information stored in the HIE.

Interfaces for Interoperability

MedicaSoft’s interfaces for interoperability include HL7 FHIR for API-based data exchange and XDS.b for Cross-Enterprise Document Sharing. Our FHIR API makes it easy to integrate applications and services with our high-performance clinical data infrastructure. Our XDS.b interface enables query-based data exchange with networks such as eHealthExchange.

EVENT NOTIFICATIONS

MedicaSoft’s Event Notification services go beyond the simple, traditional “ADT Notifications” capability for HIEs that are commonly used in the healthcare industry. For example, our Event Notification service enables hospitals to “push” notifications to providers in response to any care transition. Pushed notifications may include an ADT message along with associated documents in CCDA form. As with all MedicaSoft services for HIEs, your data is yours: we don’t use your data.

DATA NORMALIZATION

MedicaSoft’s NXT Platform maps to code sets recommended by the FHIR standard, including SNOMED, LOINC, RxNorm, CPT, ICD-9/10, and HCPCS. Our platform’s mapping service is capable of implementing customized mappings, such as mapping proprietary code sets to standard code sets. In all cases, the original codes received are maintained in their original context for future reference.

In addition to its internal code set normalization capabilities as described above, the MedicaSoft platform integrates easily with external, third-party terminology services.

DATA QUALITY MONITORING

NXT Insight, available as an add-on to the NXT Platform, is a real-time ETL solution that offers HIEs the capability to observe and track key metrics such as the level of USCDI compliance met by their data senders and the volume and sources of duplicate HL7 messages.

DEDUPLICATION

MedicaSoft’s NXT Platform deduplicates problems, allergies, medications, procedures, and immunizations while maintaining the original data in case a change to a patient’s identity is discovered at a later date.

PATIENT MATCHING

In order to maintain a master source of truth for patient identities, MedicaSoft’s NXT Platform integrates easily with any Master Patient Index (MPI).

Our platform uses multiple clinical and claims data sources to validate demographic changes, and it also supports custom workflows for data stewardship.

In addition, our platform actively monitors MPI ‘overlay’ conditions to detect and prevent incorrect linkages that may occur due to erroneous data input during patient registration or at the point of care.

Analytical Solutions for Health Information Exchanges

MedicaSoft’s analytical solutions start with infrastructure. Like our clinical data infrastructure, our analytical infrastructure is cloud-based, high-performance, and very scalable. It is designed for bulk data analysis and reporting, uses open standards for connecting to analytical tools, and supports clinical and claims data. And while our analytical infrastructure is available as a stand-alone data warehouse solution for Health Information Exchanges, our vast library of Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) routines make it the perfect complement to the clinical data infrastructure at the heart of our NXT Platform.
